Constitution of the West
Point Society ARTICLE I The name of this Society shall be the
West Point Society of the District of Columbia and the National
Capital Region, hereafter referred to as the Society. ARTICLE II The objective of the Society is to
provide a nonprofit organization through which graduates, former
cadets and Society members may foster and advance the principles and
mission of the United States Military Academy. ARTICLE III The affairs of the Society shall be
managed by an executive body known as the Board of Governors. ARTICLE IV Under the direction of the Board of
Governors, the dues and any other income shall be used to defray the
expenses made necessary in the proper conduct of the affairs of the
Society. ARTICLE V Amendments or changes in this
Constitution and By-Laws may be made at any meeting of the Society
by a vote of two-thirds of the members present. Such proposed
amendments or changes shall be considered only when the Secretary
shall have distributed copies of the same to the members at least 15
days before the meeting. ARTICLE VI The Society shall have perpetual
existence, unless sooner dissolved pursuant to this Section of the
Constitution. a. The Society may be dissolved
by: (1) A vote of two-thirds of
the members of the Society present at a meeting duly called
for such purpose and; (2) By a vote of
three-fourths of the elected members of the Board. b. Upon dissolution, any funds or
property remaining after payment of creditors shall be offered
by the Board to the following organizations in the order of
priority as listed: (1) Association of Graduates,
United States Military Academy; (2) West Point Fund or any
successor thereof; (3) United States Military
Academy; (4) The Federal Government of
the United States of America.
